ALBERT CAREY, 77 BURIED MONDAY

PIONEER OF HOPE TOWNSHIP SUCCUMBS TO BRIEF ILLNESS

Albert Carey, 77, Pioneer resident of Hope, was buried Monday afternoon in Hope cemetery, Following a funeral service at his farm home near there. Rev. G.I.A. Short (?) of the Sanford M. E. Church officiated at the rites. Death occurred Saturday afternoon an illness of ten days which resulted from a stroke of paralysis. He had lived in the county for the past sixty years.

Mr. Carey was born in Flint, April 22, 1853. His boyhood days were spent in Genessee County and when a young man, 17 years of age, moved to Averill, and about ten years later went to Hope, where he opened a blacksmith shop. In 1874 he was married to Miss Almira Fraser who survives him, with six children, who are: Orville Carey of Midland; Mrs. William Piegols and Mrs. Bert Baldwin of Larkin, Cash Carey of Beaverton, Guy and Harry Carey of Hope. There are twenty six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, also a brother William Carey of Saginaw. Midland Daily News Republican dated 10-30-1930 Page-8.
