Ruby was born Dec. 28, 1914 in Vernal, Utah to William Wardell and Jennie Miles but was raised by Rachel Miles. Ruby married Dick Birch and later divorced, she then married Earl Batchelor, he passed away and she married Art Wallace who is now deceased.
Ruby was a waitress at many of the early cafes in Vernal, Duchesne, Salt Lake, Roosevelt, manager of the Lunch Counter at Quality Drug and owner of the Gateway Café. Her social affiliations included Vernal Duplicate Bridge, Vice President and Program Director of Uintah Club; she was a member of the Board of Council of the aging, see for night Relief Society and care of nursery.
She traveled and lived with her husband Earl Batchelor in many places including Cartagena, South America, Kuwait, Libya, Rome and Italy. She enjoyed everything and was good in all things, her crochet work, her sewing, magic, Dolls of President, Wives at Western Park, Butterfly Collection at the Field House, Lap afghans at Uintah Care Center.
Ruby had four children; Glen (deceased), Donna (Ted) Workman, Ray Birch (deceased), Ilene (Bruce, deceased) Maddux; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 19 great great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by father, George Wardell; mother, Jennie Miles Wardell; raised by Rachel Miles; siblings, William Wardell, Eva (Floyd) Warburton, Alvin Wardell, Emily (Lyman) Kofford, Charles Wardell, Georgia (Milton) Fine, Harold Wardell; son-in-law, Bruce Maddux; great grandsons; Shawn Maddux and Kevin Lamb
Funeral Services will be May 7, at 11 a.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
