Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. for Earl Batchelor, 65, who died in the Uintah County Hospital June 23 after a long illness.
Mr. Batchelor was born November 21, 1910 in Castlegate, Utah to John E. Batchelor and Olive Biddlecome. He married Ruby P. Wardell September 27, 1948 in Vernal.
A farmer and an oil field superintendent, Mr. Batchelor was also in construction. He was a member of the LDS Church and was an Elder in the Vernal Third Ward. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Vernal.
Services were held in the Vernal Fourth and Second Ward Chapel. Pallbearers were Gary Workman, Harold Wardell, Dan Clark, Laynell Lamb, Glade Nelson, LeRoy Hatch. Honorary pallbearers were John Steele, Quinton Hatch, Palph Hatch, Orval Phillips, C. M. Bilbey, Kalky Stringham, Coke Jeffry, Rich Birch, Clyde Wilkins, Don Showalter, Jay Showalter and Bob Abacrombie.
Family prayer, was given by Ted Workman. Prelude and postlude music by Eleanor Marshall. Two musicals, "Beyond the Sunset" and " That Beautiful Land" were sung by President and Mrs. Glade Sowards, accompanied by Mrs. Marshall. Lloyd Winward gave the invocation. Speakers were Bob Chandler and Isaac Sorenson and the benediction was by Bill Workman. Dedication was by Loland Workamn. The Third Ward Relief Society was in charge of flowers.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Ted (Donna) Workman of Vernal; Mrs. Bruce (Mary Ilene) Maddux of Boise; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Isaac (Beth) Sorensen of Salt Lake City and Lee Batchelor, Winnemucca, Nevada and a niece, Helen Clark of Vernal. Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Vernal Mortuary.
