Info from Gwinnett Historial Socity. (Story copied as I found it.)
When Harris Puckett, Sr. came into southern Hall County. He came in 1828 to the best of available knowledge, with all the possessions of the family loaded on an ox cart, with the family walking. He, or they, found a rock cave with a spring of water near it, and used the cave, or more correctly, shelter, for an unknown period of time. The writer does not know for how long a time, but probably until a cabin was built for the family's use.
The Cave is located just off Black Jack Road in Hall County. To find the Cave, go .8 mile north from Roberts Cross Roads, on Ridge Road, to Black Jack Road. Turn right for one mile to the property on which the cave is located, and with permission from the present owner, the cave may be seen.
A big over hang of rock is there for proction from the rain, sun etc. There is still signs of smoke on the over head rocks, now, 1979. Some of the over hanging rocks may have fallen since that time some One Hundred Fifty One years ago. There are some big hunks of fallen rock under what must have been a bigger shelter in 1828 when the writers Great Great Grand Father came there bringing his son, Harris Pickett, Jr., with him.
