Bill Coontz was born on August 28, 1917 in Johnson, Iowa, USA as Willard B. Coontz, the son of William & Jessie Nickel Coontz. He died of cancer on April 7, 1978 in Van Buren, Arkansas, USA. He served his country as a Private in the US Army during World War 2.

He was a stuntman and actor and besides his movies, had roles in many television series, including "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp", "The Virginian"," Big Valley", "Daniel Boone" and "The Guns of Will Sonnett", to name a few. He is also known for his work on "Plunderers of Painted Flats (1959)", "Frankenstein's Daughter (1958)", "Kingdom of the Spiders (1977)", "Convoy (1978)" and "No Place to Land (1958)". He appeared in more than 130 film and television productions between 1950 and 1978.
