John Klar, 59, of Mission Creek Township, passed away suddenly at his home Wednesday, June 16, after an illness of about two years.
John Klar, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Klar, was born at Detroit, Michigan, Oct. 17, 1906. The family came to Pine County 51 years ago and lived in the Sandstone and Finlayson area for 49 years.
On October 15, 1930, he was united in marriage to Miss Hattie Ankrum at Pine City and have farmed in Mission Creek Township.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie; two daughters (Gladys) Mrs. Gilbert Maslonkowski, of St. Paul Park and Beverly at home; five sons, Lester; Marvin and Jack of Hinckley, Robert of St. Paul, Harvey of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and Thomas at home; one half sister, Mrs. John Karsky, of Pine City, one sister, Margaret Hangel, of Bloomington; two brothers, Joe of Minneapolis and Peter of Princeton and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three infants, his parents and a brother, Tony.
Funeral services were held at the Hinckley Presbyterian Church Saturday, June 19 at 2 p.m. Rev. Frank Koksma officiating. Casket bearers were: Lawrence and Ed Van Rueden, Howard and Stuart Sikkink and Clarence and Arnold Gimpl. Interment was at Hinckley Rosehill Cemetery. Tatting Funeral Home had charge.
