"Mrs. John Marcy (Mary H. Whitacre) born 1 Apr 1832 Munsey, Pa.; when but a child came with her parents to this state and located near Clay. Of a family of ten children she is survived by but one sister, Mrs. Mercy Vinton of this city. Survived by husband and six children: Mesdames Cornelia E. DuBois, Robert F. Wilson, and Arthur Jordan of this city, and Mrs. P. S. Junkin of Creston, Iowa, Mrs. T. P. Stanton of Chariton, and Lucien P. Marcy of Fairfield. (Tombstone in Evergreen Cemetery shows birth date 1835.)"
