He first served in Company A, 316th U.S. Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division from November 5, 1917 to February 13, 1918.

He then served in Company C, 11th U.S. Infantry from February 13, 1918 to July 26, 1919.

He was promoted to the rank of Corporal on June 16, 1919.

He served in the engagement at St. Mihiel, France on September 12-16, 1918.

He received his discharge from the Army on July 26, 1919 at Camp Dix, New Jersey.

He was originally from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was employed as a Foreman at the Gettysburg Furniture Factory.

He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on September 9, 1949.
