Daughter of Johann Friedrich and Christine Friederike "Rieke" Habsmeyer, Caroline Henriette Meyer married William Thee 21 November 1849 in Warren County, MO.

Mrs. Thee's obituary is copied on p. 56 of Lichte family history; copy is in possession of Jane Denny. Source is Der Christliche Apologete, 9 April 1896 and translation is courtesy of John Stoutimore:

Thee -- Mother Caroline Thee (née Habsmeyer) mother-in-law of Rev. F. H. Hippermann [Wippermann], of the Western German Conference, was born on November 22, 1831 at Rehme, Minden Municipal District, Germany. In her youth she came to America with her parents and settled in Warren Co., Mo. In 1849 she married Wilhelm Thee, who died 7 years ago. This most happy marriage was blessed with 11 children, of which 3 have already passed. The deceased was fully converted to God in the early years of her marriage and joined the Methodist Church, proving herself for many years to be a very serious and zealous Christian.

In addition to laying up her own salvation, the education of her children, not only outwardly but especially for eternity, was very dear to her heart. The fact that all her children were converted to God in the early days of their youth and that even now they are faithful and steadfast members of the church and Christians, is proof that this was achieved with God's help. For the last couple of years she has been particularly concerned with thoughts of the eternal. "To have firm witness and faithfulness in the last hour," was her almost daily prayer, and this request was answered by the dear God in good measure.

Two days before her death, at midnight hour, she asked her children to pray with her. When this happened, she herself spoke, though in broken words, a short prayer, and at the very end of it praised the Lord especially for the joyfulness and assurance of eternal life. About an hour before her death, her son-in-law asked, "Mother, is Jesus near?" She looked him firmly in the face and said, with a glowing smile on her face: "Oh yes!" Then the former [the son-in-law] said the words: "Safe in Jesus' arms," and in a firm and clear voice, she replied the next verse: "Safe in his bosom." . . . She died of dropsy on 25 March. She died of dropsy on 25 March. [Repeated line in original].

So Mother Thee lived and died as a faithful disciple of her Savior. At her request, she was administered the Last Supper on last Sunday. The Author takes back his own, and he will never forget how calm and devoted she was. She suffered so much down here in the last days of life, but she proved herself a godly consecrated soul to the last moment.
