Born in Minden, Westfalia, Carl Frederick Wilhelm Meyer immigrated with his parents and siblings. The family arrived Baltimore, Maryland, 18 Jan 1841 aboard ship Clementine (image to right). By 1850 he was farming with his father (image to right). His date of birth and information on his family are from Lichte family records.

A Frederick Meyer died intestate and probate record filed 14 April 1863 appears to relate to this Meyer; therefore, his date of death was listed as April 1863. Signatures to record were Henry Timmerberg, Arnold "Rache," and Louis "Neimeyer." More than likely, Henry Timmerberg (1822-1876)was his brother-in-law, the brother of his wife. See probate images.

Warren County, MO, probate records for his father indicate the surname was originally a form of Habsmeyer. Carl Friederich Wilhelm Meyer married Hanna Charlotte Timmerberg on 15 May 1852; marriage was recorded in Warren County, MO (image to right). The family could not be located in 1860. By 1870 it appears that Johanna was a widow. Mr. Meyer's resting place is not known. Perhaps he was buried in a family plot, the Bethel site of Smith Creek Cemetery, or other. His memorial was placed here acknowledging the resting place of his wife and a daughter.

Of interest is the 1863 entry of a Friederich Meyer in Lippstadt records. Might this refer to this Meyer? It's possible he and his family were members of the Lippstadt congregation at the time of his death; however, a request January 2018 to Historical Society Missouri, Columbia, for copies proved unproductive. The link remains.
