Maggie was an activist concerned with the benefits of Confederate Veterans and worked in the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Home. She was instrumental in convincing the State of Florida to recognize the financial and medical needs of the aged veterans. The Florida Times-Union mentioned her in their "In And About Town" section on 24 July 1896 as "Mrs. James F. Clark is now raising funds for the Confederate dead who have no headstones. She says she will be grateful for any contributions for this purpose". This is ironic because her husband, James F. Clark, remained without a headstone for over 75 years.

The family Bible shows her death date as 27 Sep 1897.
