Edward Joyal
LACONIA — Edward Logan Joyal, 86, formerly of Morin Road died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.
Born in Laconia April 14, 1919, he was raised and schooled here, the son of the late Charles F. and Sadie (Colby) Joyal. He had been a resident of Laconia for most of his life.
He was employed by Scott & Williams for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He also worked at the Allen-Rogers Corp., and Morin Mills. As a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression, he also helped construct what is now known as the Gunstock Recreation Area.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia, and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, Laconia Council, No. 48. He was the 1972 State Cribbage Champion.
He was predeceased by his wife Beatrice (Couture) Joyal in 1996, as well as his three brothers, and seven sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Rodney Joyal of Brewer, Maine, James "Jim" Joyal, and Robert Joyal, both of Laconia; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, June 13, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia. The Rev. Gary L. Kosmowski, pastor of the church, will be celebrant. Family and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour from 9-10 a.m. at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church St., Laconia, prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in the family lot at St. Lambert Cemetery, Laconia.
