John was the son of Jacob Sprinkle & Mary Sheltman.

He married Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie" Cox on 8 May 1845 in Lee Co., VA.

Their family included: Elisha Franklin; John W.; Robert Smith; Mary Catherine (Laningham); William L.; Nancy Elizabeth; James Everett; Debo Sharp; Mitchell Cecil; Lillie; & Harvey Aston.

Some records show that John & Sallie are buried at the Graham-Parsons-Sprinkle Cemetery. Carol, who originally created this memorial, indicates that the cemetery was originally called the Miller Chapel Cemetery. Later the grave yard on the "left" side of the church came to be known as the Graham-Parsons Cemetery. The Sprinkles are buried on the "right" side of the church and this area is sometimes referred to as the Graham-Parsons-Sprinkle Cemetery. Carol says that all three names refer to the same cemetery: Miller Chapel, Graham-Parsons & Graham-Parsons-Sprinkle.
