Sam was the son of Jacob Sprinkle & his wife Susan (whose maiden name is said to be Mullins).
Sam moved from KY to TX and then on to MO. He married two or three times and had at least 14 children. His first wife was Cynthia Haney, who died in Barry Co. 1867-1870. His last wife was the much younger Elizabeth Toy; they married on 15 Sept 1872 in Benton Co., AR.
