Carl was born in Glendale, Iowa to Charles and Christine Hansen Bloomquist. He married Gladys Daub on June 20, 1934. She died in 1953. He married Mary Richardson on August 30, 1956. She died September 13, 1987. Carl was survived by a daughter, Dorothy; a son, Richard; a stepdaughter, Joyce; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bert, John, Earl, and Robert; and a sister, Eva. He was preceded in death by six sisters, five brothers and a stepdaughter.
