CLYDE M. SIMMONS
1926 - 2010

Clyde M. Simmons, son of Henry and Katie Simmons, was born on October 14, 1926 in Jay, Florida. He attended Jay schools through High School when he was drafted into the Army. He served in World War II. He married Erlene Diamond of Chumuckla on July 30, 1947. They were married for 62 years.
They have two children, Jerry Clyde, born in 1948, and Kathy Darlene, born in 1957.
Clyde has been a member of the Cora Baptist Church since his high school days. He worked for American Cyanmind for 26 1/2 years, and was a member of the Masons for 50+ years.
Clyde loved nature and the outdoors. He is known for his strong Christian faith, his love of family, and his flourishing flower and vegetable gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Erlene; his son, Jerry and his, wife, Cindi; his daughter, Kathy Walker and her husband, James Walker; his six grandchildren, Jerry Clyde Simmons, II and his wife, Bonni, Fred Simmons, Scott Walker, Mick Walker, Robert Kane, and Kenny Kane; and his great-granddaughter, "Allie." Other family members include sisters, Annie Lou Carle and Elsie Diamond; three brothers, Curtis and Debbie Simmons, Cecil and Maxine Simmons, Douglas and Eloise Simmons; and many nieces, and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Jay Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Cora Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. LaDon Hall and Bro. Earle Greene officiating services.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Clyde Simmons, II, Scott Walker, Mick Walker, Roger Dobson, Wayne Hawthorne, and Mike Saye.
Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Simmons' Sunday School Class from Cora Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank Century Care Center, Jay Hospital and Staff and the Dialysis Center for their care.
The family welcomes flowers and/or donations to the American Heart Foundation or American Kidney Foundation .
