Decedent was born in the town of Schleswig, July 26, 1855, on the farm now owned and operated by Edwin Ninmer. Ten years later his father disposed of the property and bought the present farm of 80 acres. It was a wilderness at that time, but Mr. Sievert helped his parents transform it into a good farm. In January 1884, he was united in marriage to Marie Schmidt, taking over the farm of his father in the same year, and with the assistance of his wife brought the place up to its present excellent condition, it being one of the best farms in this town. Through many years of heard labor and the practice of thrift and ecomony, they were able to accumulate quite a fortune.
Two sons were born to the couple, namely George and Edmund, both at home.
The deceased was an honest and upright man, a good neighbor and kind husband and father. He reached the age of 65 years and 23 days. Besides his wife and two sons, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Julius Ninmer; his untimely death is also deplored by a host of friends, by whom he will be sadly missed.
The funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at the residence. Interment was in the Fischer cemetery, Mrs. W. H. Luehr of Manitowoc officiating.
