James a. Hugo, 43, Barnsdall, died Tuesday in an Oklahoma City hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Christian Church at Barnsdall with interment in the Ethel Reece Cemetery there.
Mr. Hugo was born Aug. 3, 1926 at Cherryvale, Kan. He was married in 1945 to Miss Bettie Smith who died in 1951 leaving one daughter. He later married on April 19, 1953 to Miss Clara Jo Alvin at Eureka Springs, Ark., who survives.
He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was also a member and served on the board of deacons of the First Christian Church at Barnsdall, belonged to the Masonic Blue Lodge at Barnsdall and the York Rite at Bartlesville; was a member of the Barnsdall board of education; the Osage County Fair Board and the board of directors of the Tri-County CAP. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co., for nearly 18 years and retired with total disability five years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Clara Jo Hugo of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Bill Armstrong, Stillwater, and Denise of the home; one son, Dennis, also of the home, and three brothers, Lester Hugo, Bartlesville; Dallas, Salina, Kan. and Howard Hugo of Afton, Okla.
