She was born April 28, 1918 in Lott, TX., the daughter of the late Elo Ben and Laura Hoelscher. On November 15, 1952, she married the late Eino Bjorn at St. Joseph's Church in Rockdale, IL. Laurene was a member of Calvary Temple in Waukegan, and was retired from St. Therese Hospital.
She is survived by three children, Julie Ann (Robert) Lila, Jr. of Lake Villa, IL., Joseph Eino (Julie) Bjorn of Mundelein, IL., and Dennia Elo (Shelly) Bjorn of Zion; five grandchildren, Jeremy Dick of Lake Villa, Shayne (Erica) Bjorn of Zion, Kyle and Laura Bjorn of Mundelein and Kenneth Bjorn of Riverside, CA.; eight brothers and sisters, Elo (Magdaline) Hoelscher of San Angelo, TX., Elmer Hoelscher of Sunnyvale, CA., Bernice Hosack of Richland, WA., Grace (Wilbert) Gully of San Angelo, Melvin (Billie Jean) Hoelscher of St. Louis, MO., Mabel Namken of San Angelo, Willard (Maxine) Hoelscher of Hollister, CA. and William (Norma) Hoelscher of Salt Lake City, UT.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Monroe; and a sister, Cleola.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2001 at 10:00 am at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Pastors Robert Abbott and Kenneth May officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation from 3:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday.
