Kenneth Delbert Astill

Kenneth Delbert Astill, a 5th generation member of the Roseville pioneer Astill family, passed away at his home on April 21, 2010. He was the youngest of eight children born to Francis and Clara Astill.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Phoebe Wendt Astill, and son James Astill. He is also survived by grandchildren Josh, Lisa Marie and Trenity. He also leaves behind a great grandson, Frank Jr. He also leaves his brother Ralph (Linda) of Roseville and sister Willa (Bob) Hovis of Mount Shasta, Calif.

Kenneth worked for 26 years for Placer County, starting at the old Placer County Hospital before transferring to Dewitt Center. He presently was working as a crossing guard for the Maidu School in Roseville. He loved the children and looked forward to seeing them each day.

Kenneth was a 57 year member of Roseville Odd Fellows in which he was serving as Noble Grand. He was Chief Patriarch of Placer Encampment, Past Grand Herald of Grand Lodge of Calif., Past Outside Sentinel of Grand Encampment and was serving as Grand Junior Warden of the Grand Encampment of Calif.

Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 109 Washington Blvd., Roseville on Thursday April 29, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Roseville Cemetery.
