David retired with the rank of sergeant after a 22-year career in the U.S. Air Force, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He, along with his wife and two daughters, Lesley and Lorraine, was stationed in numerous stateside and overseas locations, including two assignments in England. It was during his first tour in England where he met and married "Meg," his wife of 52 years. As he said so often, "I love you loads and loads and groups and groups." Their relationship truly was a love story.
In his retirement years, he pursued a variety of interests. An avid gardener, spending hours at his community garden plot on Clinton Street, he grew a variety of vegetables to share with his family and friends. Ever the consummate "yardsaler," David would "dicker" with the seller's price for the best possible purchase. He loved to fish; as "Poppy," he would sometimes take his granddaughters fishing with him. Lastly, he spent many happy springs and summers umpiring for local high schools, college and adult softball teams.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, M. Evangeline (Brochu) Boissy and Evelyn Brochu; and brothers, Paul and Gerard Brochu.
David is survived by his wife, Margaret Brochu of Concord; his daughters, Lesley Brochu-Scott and her husband, Robert, and their daughters, Margaret and Michelle of Bow and Lorraine Brochu and her longtime companion, John Cwenkala, of Chicago; his siblings, Joanna A. Grandmaison and her husband, Lucien, Donald R. Brochu, and Edward R. Brochu and his wife, Jacqueline (Grandmaison); many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and great-grandnieces and nephews.
