OBIT:
The wife of Honorable Thomas Essex, Mayor of our city, died very suddenly on Tuesday afternoon, at her residence on Vernon Street. She had been afflicted with heart disease for some time past, and was sitting by the fire when Dr. Grove entered the room and conversed with her a few moments as to her pains. She was helped to her bed and soon dropped off into that sleep which knows no waking.
She died without a struggle, and closed her eyes like a babe gong to sleep. Mrs. Essex was near 65 years, and leaves many friends behind who well remember her kind acts for many years to come. Peace be unto her ashes.
