Former Hedrick Resident, Ethel Smith, 102, of Sigourney, died Wed., Mar. 20, 1991, at Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.
She was born Aug. 4, 1888, in Hedrick to Orson and Margaret Emma Koontz Durfey. she married Rayman Smith on Jan. 26, 1910, in Hedrick. He died Apr. 6, 1969. She was a graduate of Hedrick High School in 1907, was a homemaker, and had been a resident of the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney for the past several years. She was a member of the Hedrick United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Gray of Montezuma; two grandsons, nine great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson; two sisters, Nettie Bowersock and Edna Stout.
Graveside services were held at Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick.
Fremont Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
