The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:30, at the Hedrick M. E. church conducted by the pastor, Rev. P. M. Conant, and interment was in the Brooks cemetery.
George Meier was born on a farm six miles northwest of Hedrick, on August 5, 1859, and was aged 59 years, ten months and 16 days at the time of his death. On March 17, 1887, he was united in marriage with Ida E. Bennett, of Hedrick, and to this union were born five children--Mrs. Lona Clark, of Fremont; Mrs. Jennie Burns of Webster City; Clyde B., of Hedrick and Hubert, at home; one child dying in infancy.
Mr. Meier lived on the farm which was his birthplace until the time of his marriage and since that time on the place which was his home at the time of his death. At the age of 21 he was converted, and on February 4, 1896 he and his wife united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Hedrick. For some time he had been a member of the board of stewards of the church. He enjoyed the religious services and was always in his place at the Sunday school and church when it was possible for him to attend.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, four children and five grandchildren. He was a kind husband, a loving parent, an upright and honest man in business and a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
