Chester A. (Dick) Lightner, 48, local resident employed in Pennsylvania, died Wednesday evening in the U.S. Veterans Hospital at Butler, Pa., where he had been a patient for two weeks.
An Air Force veteran of World War II, Mr. Lightner had spent most of his life in Rushville. His home was at 415 West Fifth.
He was born in Arlington on August 24, 1914, the son of Charles P. and Bertha E. Smith Lightner, and attended school at Manilla.
Mr. Lightner formerly was employed as a core maker at the old Dill Foundry here.
Survivors include six children,Richard, William, Linda Kay, Susan, Brenda and Jacqueline, all of Rushville, and five brothers, Blount and Bruce Lightner of Rushville, Charles and William Lightner of Indianapolis and Glen Lightner of Whiteland.
One brother, Floyd, was killed in Italy during World War II.
The Rev. W.B. Jenkins will conduct services at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Todd Funeral Home, where friends may call after noon Saturday. Burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery with military rites.
