Ella Jennings Stewart

Ella Jennings was a daughter of Thomas Archer 'T. A.' Jennings and Berlinda Bernetta 'Jane' Bridges Jennings. Her five siblings were Mable 'Maybelle' Jennings Summers, Clara Jennings Reno, William Q. Jennings, Minnie Jennings Conflans, and Edward F. Jennings. Ella's grandparents were William H. Jennings, Sarah W. Wilkerson Jennings, John Q. Bridges, and Martha A. E. Rutherford Bridges. Ella married Seth Wallace Stewart in Bronson, Bourbon Co., Kansas on 12-15-1880; their children were Charles James 'Charlie' Stewart and Rita Fae Stewart Robbins.

Typed obituary: "First Presbyterian Church Iola, Kansas Roland D. Snuffer Pastor Ella Jennings Stewart was one of six children born to Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Jennings. She was born on June 28th, 1865, in Sedalia, Mo., and passed from this earth on September 28th, 1933, at her home in Iola, Kans. As Ella Jennings, she came to Kansas in 1878, and on December 15, 1880 was united in marriage to Seth W. Stewart. They moved to Iola in 1902. To the union were born two children, a son and a daughter. Mrs. Stewart will be remembered by her many friends as a fine Christian mother and an industrious worker in the Church. She and her husband united with the First Presbyterian Church of Iola in 1911. In addition to her friends, and her husband, Seth W. Stewart, there remain to mourn her loss two brothers, W. L. Jennings of Yates Center and E. F. Jennings of Pittsburgh; the two childen, Chas. J. Stewart of Iola and Mrs. O. J. Robbins of Wichita; and four grand-children."

Newspaper clipping death notice: "Death of Mrs. S. W. Stewart Elderly Woman Resident of County for 55 Years. Mrs. S. W. Stewart, a resident of Allen county for the past 55 years, died this morning at the age of 68 at her home, 826 North Jefferson. She passed away at 8:30 a.m. Mrs. Stewart was born in Sedalia, Mo., and came to Allen county in 1878. The Rev. Rolland D. Snuffer will conduct the funeral services to be held in the Sleeper Service rooms Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Highland cemetery. Mrs. Stewart is survived by her husband; a son, C. J. Stewart, Iola; Mrs. O. J. Robbins, daughter, Wichita; Robert Jay and Robert (sic Rolland) Stewart Robbins, Wichita, and Charles Seth and James Wallace Stewart, of Iola, grandsons."
