He was a JP (Justice of the Peace), Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner for Loudoun County Virginia. (Documented in Loudoun County Minute Book for the period up to 1783.) He is also mentioned in the book PAYNES OF VIRGINIA as being associated with his brother-in-law William Payne during the Revolution.
