Bert Tammany "B. T." Kitchens, Sr.

Mr. Bert Tammany "B. T." Kitchens, Sr., 60, of 126 Indian Springs Street, Jackson, died early Wednesday morning at Emory University Hospital. He had been in declining health for some time and had recently undergone open heart surgery.
Mr. Kitchens was born August 04, 1910 in Butts County, the son of Mr. John Woodson "Wood" Kitchens and Mrs. Emma McKleroy Kitchens. He was employed for 25 years at Pepperton Cotton Mills. He was a member of Stark Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at three 'clock from the Stark Methodist Church with the Rev. Francis Ford, pastor, and Rev. Don Folsom, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Jackson officiating. Interment will be in Jackson City Cemetery with Sherrell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Ernest Pelt, Lasmar Phillips, J. W. Fincher, Davis Willard, W. J. Horton, James Bedsole, Edwin James and Buck Cook.
Mr. Kitchens is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mrs. Frances Baxter Kitchens; one son, Bert Tammany "Bert" Kitchens, Jr. of Ellenwood, Georgia; two daughters, Margaret Sigman and Jean Whitaker both of Jackson; Eight grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Lunette Kitchens of Atlanta, Georgia and Madge Kitchens Holifield of Jackson, Georgia; two brothers, Orville and Olis Kitchens, both of Jackson.
