OBITUARY
Margaret Faust 1925 ~ 2008

Margaret Georgene Baker Faust, age 82 of Washington, Utah passed away in St. George April 5, 2008 in her daughters arms. She had been ill health following surgery in February of this year.

Margaret was born October 2, 1925 in Snohomish, Washington to Frederick George and Martha Ann Salmon Baker, the youngest of 6 children. Her father died during her mothers pregnancy with Margaret, so she and her mother always had a very close bond. Making ends meet was difficult for her widowed mother, so Margaret and her family traveled often between Snohomish, Seattle and Coalville, Utah in order to receive help from other family members. Margaret was a small, shy girl, but was always interested in people and new places. She took a year off between her junior and senior years of high school to work in the war plants during World War II. She graduated from North Summit High School in 1945. After graduation, she returned to the Seattle area and spent many years working for the Greyhound Bus Line. At a Church dance in 1954 she met Rex F. Faust, a Utah native, who had moved to Seattle to work for Boeing. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple September 14, 1954. Their only daughter, Nadine, was born in January of 1957. They continued to live in Seattle until employment changes required a move to Utah in 1970. Shortly thereafter, they built a home in Bennion where they resided for nearly 30 years. After Rexs passing October 12, 2000, Margaret moved to West Valley City, and in 2005 she moved to Washington, Utah with Nadine and her family, building homes next door to each other. Margaret was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings, but enjoyed being a visiting teacher best. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for over 40 years. She had a wide variety of interests; butterflies, birds, lighthouses, the ocean and beaches, geology, anything to do with Native Americans, reading, gardening (growing the best cantaloupes in Bennion), the Utah Jazz, family history, and being with family and friends.

Margaret is survived by her beloved family: daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Larry Stratford; 3 grandchildren, Lyndee (Russ) Leavitt, L. Brandon Stratford, Benjamin R. Stratford; 3 great grandchildren, Matthew R. Leavitt, Nicholas J. Leavitt, and Ella Margaret Leavitt, who were the light of her life; also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Rex; her parents; sister, Jeanetta Jacobsen; 4 brothers: Sterling, James, Frederick and Robert Baker.

The family would like to express appreciation to friends, neighbors and family members for their love, prayers and acts of kindness. We would also like to thank those who lovingly cared for Margaret during her illness; West 1 at Dixie Regional Medical Center, Coral Desert Rehabilitation, Red Cliffs Regional Care Center, and C. Kerry Stratford, MD.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2008, 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel, 3745 S. 6400 W., West Valley City, Utah. A viewing will be held Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home 4330 S. Redwood Road and Thursday at the church,10-10:45 am. Interment, Coalville City Cemetery.
