Ethel I. Manley died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004 in Hayden. She was 85.
Ethel was born in Hartford, N.Y., on June 7, 1918 to Frank and Phoebe (Stewart) Saville. She was raised and attended school in New York and in 1942 she and her brother Gordon moved to Denver, Colo.
Ethel worked as a nurse's aid. While in Denver, she met John K. Manley, Sr. and they were married on Aug. 25, 1951 in Raton, N.M. They lived in Denver until moving to Granby, Colo. in 1966 where they spent the next 33 years.
She and her husband then moved to Hayden, Colo. to be near their son.
Ethel enjoyed cooking, embroidery and crocheting. She was a member of the Granby Baptist Church while living in Granby and the First Baptist Church in Hayden during the past four years.
Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 2002.
Ethel was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers Ernest, Jim, Fayett and Alfred and a sister Gladys Gondella.
She is survived by her son John (Jackie) Manley of Hayden; granddaughter Bridget Manley of Hayden; brother Gordon Saville of Montrose, Colo.; sisters Mary Oatman of Amherst and Virginia, Majel Winchell of Hudson Falls, NY.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 7 at Granby Baptist Church with Arthur Houk officiating and Jan Powell as the soloist. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Where The Roses Never Fade."
Pallbearers were Jeff Crane, Mark Horn, Carl Bendixen, Verl Brown, Scot Horn and Hal Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers were all of Ethel's many friends.
Interment was at Granby Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Hayden in care of Grant Mortuary.
