He graduated from Spencer, NE. High School in 1936.
In August of that year he married Marjorie Krikac of Butte, Ne. at the United Church of Christ in Sioux City, NE.
He and his wife farmed south of Vesta, NE. where they lived and raised their family until moving to Tecumseh in 1980.
During those years, Harold supplemented his farm income by wiring many houses when Rural Electrification was introduced. worked at the Campbell Soup Company in Tecumseh, Ne. for several years and also did contruction work. He was an active member in the Vesta Methodist Church until its closing when the family became members of the Tecumseh, Methodist Church.
He passed away suddenly at his home in Tecumseh, April 17, 2010 at the age of 94 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Margorie Barden, of 73 years, daughters, Marcia Sargent and husband Milton of Lewiston, Ne. Judy Gibson , Marilyn Wolf and Vicki West and husband Bob all of Lincoln, NE. 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grand children and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Neva Peters, Blanche Crisp, Bernice Hooker, Ruth Havranek, and Leona Semon, brothers, Alton Barden and Ralph Barden and grand-daughter Jolene Gibson.
Funeral servies were held on April 21, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Tecumseh with Reverend Mark Crist officiating.
Interment was in the Tecumseh Cemetery.
