HURRICANE Funeral services were held Sunday [27 June 1954] for George Ivan Spendlove, 65, who died Thursday, June 24. in the Kanab hospital of quick pneumonia. The service was in the North ward chapel under the direction of the bishopric with George Sim mo conducting and Irene Hulton at the piano. A vocal trio, Durell Covington. Clement Broderick and Clinton Ivan, sang a number, then Bishop Grant Langston gave a short sketch of the life of George I. Spendlove. He said he was a master mechanic and could work at any trade. William Pulmer, Thenon Lrany and K. I. Wuxltmry all spoke very highly of him, mentioning his ability and the fine job he did in training his children. The music were vocal solos by Mrltiu Baker and Clinton Isom and the male trio sung another number. Frank Johnson and Hint Wright gave the invocation and benediction and Leo Reeve dedicated the grave in the city cemetery. Burial was under the direction of the Spilstmry mortuary. The large crowd and many beautiful flowers liesjxike the esteem in which he was held by his host of friends.

George Isom Spendlove was born Oct. 23. 1888, in Virgin City, Washington county, to Loren J. and Ellen Isom Spendlove. He moved to Hurricane in 1908 and has lived here since, where he was farmer and stonemason. He served as a missionary to the southern states for two years. He married Lilly May Petty in the St. Geoorge L.D.S. temple Aug. 3, 1915. To them were born nine children, eight of whom are living: three sons, Earl, Kanab; Dr. Clark, U. S. army, and George Paul; daughters, Dorothy, Hurricane; Mrs. Shirley Glore, Brigham City; Mrs. Ruth Memmott, Orem; Mrs. LaDean Stewart, Columbia, and Miss Ethlyn, Salt Lake City; also four brothers, Rex, Whitney, Ianthus, Clifford, and five sisters, Mrs. Hortense Bradshaw, Mrs. Venice Stratton,
Mrs. Hazel Anderson, Kate Allen, Leeds, and Mrs. Velma Brown, Ogden, of his children and brothers and sisters and their families present for the service as well as many other relatives and From out of town were Petty, Salt Lake City; and (Mrs. Frank Petty and of his family; Mr. and Mrs. Heaton, Cedar City; Jennie DeMille, Mrs. Ethel Baker, children, Fillmore; Mrs. Thora Iuig Beach, Calif; Mr. Mrs. John Underwood, Boulder City; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Heaton, Mr. and Mrs. Orvll Robinson, Annie Connell, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Maesser, Mr. Clarence Mrs. Ann (Mason,
