Clarence E. Banning, 76, of Decatur, died July 27, 2007 in his home.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2007 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Harristown Cemetery.

Mr. Banning was born on November 25, 1930 in Oreana IL, the son of Louis and Goldie (Scammahorn) Banning. He was a US Navy veteran working as a Chief Petty Officer serving both in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Clarence was a member of Westside Church of the Nazarene, and a life member of DAV in Decatur. He attended First Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are his wife, Florence Banning of Decatur; one daughter, Ellie (Kenny) Case of Decatur; two sisters, Ginny Roy of Decatur and Verna (Bill) Grubbs of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Jon Lohse (special friend Summer Clark) of Decatur, and Jamie (Pat) Horve of Decatur; one great-granddaughter, Trisha Lohse of Decatur; one step great-granddaughter, Emily Horve of Roscoe, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bill, Shorty and Elmer and two sisters.
