Mrs. Esther Platt, of Joliet, 71 years old, died on Thursday, June 25, 1964, at the Americana Nursing Center, Joliet, following a brief illness.
The former Esther Earls, daughter of the late Grover and Eva Earls, was born in Oswego, IL on November 7, 1892. She had resided in Joliet since 1916, and had served as a cook at the Joliet Arsenal, Silver Cross Hospital, and Caterpillar Tractor Co., retiring in 1959.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Platt, and a sister Mabel Heinzelman.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond W. Platt and John G. Platt Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. Edna Ruth, all of Joliet, nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; a brother, Clarence Earls of Joliet, and ten sisters, Mrs. Bert Platt of Minooka; Mrs. William Rockenbach of Plainfield; Mrs. Clayton Davis of Peotone; Mrs. Hattie Brossard of Oak Park; Mrs. Lloyd Davis of Morris; Mrs. Elsie Roberts of Berwyn; Mrs. Herman Hughart of Joliet; Mrs. Alice Willie of Owosso, Michigan; Mrs. Ada Murray of New York; and Mrs. Edward Knupp of Wisconsin.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, June 27, at Sonntag, Burgess, Wylie Chapel, Joliet, IL. with the Rev. J. Fernlund officiating. Burial was in Chapman Cemetery.
