CeCe joined our family not long after she was born and shortly before we were married. Her name was intended to stand for Crazy Cat, but she never lived up to that. She was fun and playful, but never erratic and crazy.

She did not warm up to outsiders very well, but was very loving and warm to her family. She had a beautiful gray, medium length coat with a lone white diamond patch in front of her neck. It was like a necklace she always wore.

She learned to welcome new family members with each new birth in our family, and in her latter years was fairly accepting of visitors and guests.

She loved the occasional cat nip, to lick my wet hair after getting out of a shower, and getting a drink from the faucet. She loved to play even in her last years, but especially in her glory days, she enjoyed chasing things around. I could pretend to be coming after her and she would run away. Then I would turn around and run from her and she would chase me through the house. If I were to lay on the floor on my back, she would get up on my chest and make herself comfortable.

PP Cat was an indoor cat who occasionally sneaked outside, once or twice scaring us into thinking she had gotten lost or hurt. We called and called for her, and a few anxious days later I heard a meow as I called. She was home!

She was diagnosed with failing kidneys in the summer of 2008 and her diet changed accordingly. Slowly she lost weight from the lack of protein. We knew she would not stay with us many more years, but her spirits always stayed up. In the last month, she became more and more lethargic, and one morning Ginna found her crawled up under the sink. This was strange, and we feared that she was looking to find a place to die. I also had noticed that she had not used her cat box for a day, then 2 days. I prepared a bed in a box in the kitchen near her food and water bowl so that she could feel safe and secure. She liked it and we changed the towels daily as she now was wetting herself where she lay. I bathed her gently Tuesday night. She did not like the water, but in the end enjoyed being cleaner. She also cleaned herself that night.

Every time we approached her in the box, she would begin to gently purr. She knew we loved her and showed us that she loved us as well. At 8:40 Wednesday night, Daryn came into the living room crying. She said she thinks that PP Cat is dead. Morgan and I went to see. She was laying outside the box on her side. She was very still, and I put my hand on her side. She slightly convulsed and remained still. She was not breathing. She was gone. Daryn said she was going to check on her and as she did, PP took a noticeably final breath and died.

We petted her and kissed her and told her we loved her. That we would miss her. And we cried. Even little Brock. He knew something was not right, and he cried for PP.

I went to Home Depot with Brock, Morgan and Daryn (Kyla was sick) to get wood for a box to bury her in. After building it, I lined it with a soft green towel and lay her inside. Beside her I put her very favorite brush, some catnip and a catnip toy. She looked peaceful and happy.

Thank you for being our sweet baby cat, PP. We love you and will always miss you!
