Rites held Wednesday for Mrs. Elon R. Pippens, 87
Services for Mrs. Elon R. Pippens, 87, were held at 2:3o p.m. today in First United Methodist Church, Oak Grove, with the Revs.'Garland Dean,George Sherman , and,. David Dean. officiating.
Interment followed in Oak Grove cemetery under the direction of Kidder-Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
Mrs. Pippens, a life long resident of West Carroll Parish, passed away Monday in Morehouse General Hospital, Bastrop, after a lengthy illness. She was a member of First Methodist Church. a member of the WMU of 'the Methodist Church and retired from the restaurant business after many years of operating Pippens Service Cafe in Oak Grove.
Survivors include four sons, C. L. Pippens Jr., of Bastrop, Thurman Pippens and Rev. Edsel Pippens, both of Oak Grove, and Rev. Glen Pippens, of West Monroe; five daughters. Mrs. Jewel Vining,of Sondheimer; Mrs. Pearl Norris, of Pineville, Mrs. Ruby Goodwin and Mrs. Metze Stinson, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Martha Schue. of Rogers, Ark.; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
