Edina Man Killed in automobile accident

Daniel Lavon Parton, 28, Edina was killed Monday, November 9, when the car which he was driving overturned.
Parton was northbound on Highway 15 just one- half mile south of the Knox County - Shelby county line when the 1977 Chevrolet which he was driving went off the south side of the roadway and overturned sever al times. The accident occurred at approximately 11PM. And the Missouri Highway Patrol investigators indicated the car had been traveling at an apparently high rate of speed.
Emergency personal on the scene used a "Jaws of Life" tool to free Parton's body from the wreckage. Shelby County Coroner Glen Green examined the body and pronounced Parton dead at the scene. He was taken to Hudson-Rimer Funeral home, Edina. A Complete obituary is contained elsewhere in this issue of The Edina Sentinel.
Among the units involved in the emergency procedures were the Salt River Ambulance Service, Shelbina fore department rescue unit and the Shelbyville Community Fire Department.

Funeral services for Daniel Lavon Parton, 28, of Edina were held at 2:30 Friday afternoon (Nov. 13, 1981) in Hudson-Rimer funeral Home in Edina. The Rev. Luke Turnbough of Edina Conducted the services. Burial was in the Harmony cemetery southeast of Edina.
Mr. Parton was killed in an automobile accident south of Edina early Tuesday morning (November. 19, 1981).
The son of Thomas Donaldson and Susie Heimer Parton, he was born Aug. 2 1953 in Knox County. Mr. Parton was a 1971 graduate of Knox County R-1 High School at Edina. Since 1968 he had been employed for the Knox County high School.
Surviving are his mother, Susie Pickens of Edina : one brother Joseph William Parton of Minneapolis, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Albert (Elizabeth Rose) Stull of Edina and tone Half-sister Donna Sue Pickens of Hurdland.
He was preceded in death by his father on July 1 1981.
Bearers were Billy Hunter, Jimmy hunter, Gary hunter, Karl Franke, John Gilbert and Tim Plowman.
