Amma was the son of Lewis Carroll and Catherine Eliza Lamb of Sampson Co., NC. He served the Confederacy on the Navy ship Indian Chief in Charleston, SC. He married Martha Matilda Barden in Sampson Co., NC in 1866.
Amma was a farmer for most of his life. He worked in real estate in his late years in Bee Co., TX before moving to Houston, TX.
