Philip Martin Vogler was born in Broad Bay, Maine. He was sixteen and one-half years old when his parents Philipp Christoph and Catharina Vogler sold their homestead on September 7, 1770, and moved to Wachovia, North Carolina. Philip Martin Vogler lived in Bethabara and work the Distillery. Philip then rented the Salem Platation and moved there, Just across the creek from Salem toward what is now Waughtown. Philip was found dead on the road as he was returning from his out of town job. The memoir of his wife indicated he died of a possible stroke.
Philip was a religious man as indicated by the Memoirs of his wife and obeyed the rules of the Moravian Society. He had a great grandson that was a Moravian missionary and one of his granddaughters married a Moravian minister.
