Mr Henry "Harry" Austen, son of George and Charlotte Austen drowned in a sailing race accident when his barge, Victoria, capsized off Gravesend. His body was found one week later and the funeral took place 5th August 1897.
A Mr Frederick Webb also drowned in the same accident and was also buried in Northfleet Cemetery plot 744D
