Funeral services for Walter Allen, 53, Olney man were held at the Assembly of God church with Rev. C.G. Owen, pastor, officiating.
Allen died of cancer at the VA hospital at Dallas after an illness of five months.
He married the former Velma Ehmler of San Springs, OK on 26 January 1946 at Graham, Texas.
A resident of Young county since 1942, Allen was employed by Kirby Pipe and Supply Company of Olney. He was a purple heart veteran of World War II. He was awarded the ETO with 2 stars and GCM. Allen was wounded at London in 1944. He belonged to the Assembly of God church.
Survivors: wife; three daughters - Mrs. Hilda Malone of Tulsa, OK; Mrs. Mildred Hieneke of National City, CA; Mrs. Wilma Jean Ligon of Farmingston, NM; father, step-mother - Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Allen of Olney; brother - Emanuel Allen of Imperial, TX; two sisters - Mrs. Beulah Riley of Graham, Mrs. Bessie Zietler of Imperial; six granchildren, 14 nieces and nephews.
