THE PARIS NEWS, Aug. 16, 2002: “Printess Edgar Sikes Sr., 62, of Paris died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Christus St. Joseph’s Hospital South. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born on March 28, 1940, in Paris to Edgar Thomas ‘Ed’ and Dorothy Louise Thomas Sikes. He married Sharon Kay Garrett on June 5, 1959 in Paris. He was a brick mason and attended Immanuel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Fay Sikes. Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Paris; three children, Printess Edgar ‘Eddie’ Sikes and his wife Cindy of Paris, Janet Ann Sikes Anderson and her husband Mike of Edmond, Okla., and Shelia Gayle Sikes Slider and her husband Robert of Paris; six grandchildren, Stephen and Kimberly Sikes, Chris and Sarah Beth Anderson and Trey and Garrett Slider; three brothers, Jackie Sikes and his wife Melba, Howard Sikes and Phillip Sikes, all of Paris; three sisters, Bettie Bohler and her husband Richard of Mount Vernon, Linda Miller and her husband Floyd of Talco and Shirley Norwood and her husband David of Paris. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Tomblin, Ollie Lee, Steve Gray, Leon Elliott, Kenny Ford and James McCarty. Memorials may be made to Courtney’s House through Immanuel Baptist Church of Paris.”
