Emmaziah Jaimah/Jamiah Smith, my GG Uncle was the son of Thomas Harrison Smith and Harriet Elizabeth Taylor of Dawson Co Ga.from SC. They are buried near his sister Texas Havannah Smith Bailey at Ophir Baptist Cherokee Co Ga. In records we see variations of his name. In census records we have Emma, Emmaziah, etc. On the headstone we have Amaziah and on original marriage record: Emazias J. In the Thomas H. Smith family bible, he is listed as Emmaziah Jaimah. He married Rose Etta Elliot, daughter of James Jackson Elliott and Matilda Freeman of Forsyth Co Ga and they had the following children: Martha, Barney Eber,Hampton C, William Bennett, and Mollie. They lived for many years in High Tower, Forsyth County Ga. Later when Rosetta died he lived with his parents and children.Uncle Ema's sister Sarah Coloma Smith married Rose Etta's brother Barney Elliott.
In 1860, he was listed in the Dawson Co Ga census as Emmeziah. In the 1870 census for Dawson County Georgia Yellow Creek, he is listed Emma age 16.In 1880, "Ama or Emma", as he was called was living next door to my GG Grandfather and his brother William Joseph Smith in High Tower/ Forsyth Co. He continued to live in Forsyth Co High Tower District until his wife died. In 1910 Dawson County Ga. Yellow Creek, he was living with his father and mother and is listed as widower.
In 1920, he was living with his son Hampton and his wife Martha in Pickens Co Ga, Jerusalem District.
In 1930, he was living with children in Cherokee Co Ga.
