The son of Samuel D. Edgmon and Sarah (Pierce) Edgmon. He married Miss Mary 'Polly' Casey in Rhea County, TN on 4 April 1832. Killed (Bushwacked) during the Civil War. Varying accounts all run along the same line. Served the Confederacy by working the salt peter caves near Boxley to produce gunpowder. He was ambushed and killed by a neighbor, Benjamin F. Clark, while Clark was home on leave from the Yankee army. Clark was, in turn, killed by Braxton's companions while he reloaded. *Per virtual flower of Travis Holt on 1 Jan 2015.

Unmarked grave, intentionally buried without a marker, due to the times and circumstances. Also has a Find a Grave Memorial (#67638997) at the other Walnut Grove Cemetery, with a different death date
