Mrs. Brooke, a native of Norfolk, was a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College, class of 1920. She was a school teacher in the Eastern Shore School System and at St. George's School in Norfolk and St. Anne's School in Charlottesville, Va. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Norfolk; the Second Circle; Irene Leache Memorial League and The Chrysler Museum. Mrs. Brooke was the daughter of the late Dr. Lemuel Cornick and Emma Cartwright Shepherd and was the widow of James Vass Brooke.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Goode Brooke and Edith Brooke Robertson, both of Norfolk, and Anne Calvert Brooke of Pentre, Wales; a son-in-law, Col. J.W. Peyton Robertson; a sister, Virginia Shepherd Ferguson of Bronxville, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A church service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church by the Rev. Hugh C. White III. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery , Norfolk. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or The Chrysler Museum.
