From Jesse Dewey's Honor Roll Book in the G.A.R. Hall in Lebanon, NH. "Homer Lawton – (AKA James C. Lawton): entered the U.S. Navy as seaman in November, 1861. He served on the ships Lodona and DeSoto. On 9.2.1863 he volunteered with others to storm Fort Sumter where he received a slight wound. The entire party were captured and sent to Andersonville Prison, where he died. He too, fills an unknown but honorable grave."
