Remembering Pastor Jesse Ireton
September 12, 2008
Jesse E. Ireton, 74, Shirley, departed this earth to meet His Lord, Jesus on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on April 2, 1934 in Madison County, he was the son of Jesse E. and Delilah J. (Kingen) Ireton.
He graduated from Fortville High School in 1952 and married Doris Valentine on Oct. 24, 1953. Jesse was born again on August 18, 1962 and spent his life serving his Lord, Jesus Christ.
Jess worked at Delco Remy for 46 years and served as a Pastor at Christ Fellowship Church in Shirley for 15 years. He has been serving in Pastoral Care Ministry at Brandywine Community Church in Greenfield for the past 11 years. Pastor Jess will be remembered as a man devoted to his family and an avid sportsman who followed Yankee baseball and I.U. basketball.
Surviving him are his wife, Dorie Ireton of Shirley; son, Mick (Carla) Ireton of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughters, Sheila (William) Lankford of Shirley, Cathy (Tim) Reynolds of Wilkinson, and Amy (David) Rose of New Castle; brother, Myron (Carolyn) Ireton of Ingalls; grandchildren, Nicole, Joshua, Lindsey, Seth, Shelby, Aaron, Wes, Holly, Hannah, Levi, Mariah, Hunter, and Clayton; and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Olivia, and Ellie. Preceding him in death were his son, Monte Ireton; and parents, Jesse and Delilah Ireton.
