Private James David Richford Warren was born Oct.28,1841 in Washington Co., Ind. the son of John Henry and Louisa Bethel Warren.
He enlisted as a 19 yr. old at Tipton, Cedar Co., Iowa on June 24,1861 in Co. A, 5th Iowa Infantry. He was discharged for disability at Jacinto, Ms. on Sept.30,1862.
After regaining his health he enlisted a second time on Dec.30,1863 in Co. E, 10th Indiana Cavalry. He was mustered out on Sept.28,1865.
He married Miss Melissa Diantha Barton on Jan.2,1868 in Washington Co., Ind. His first wife died in 1881 and James married a second time on Sept.22,1890 in Floyd Co., Ind. to Miss Anna L. Anderson.
He filed for an invalid pension, for service in both 5th Iowa Inf. and 10th Ind. Cavalry, on April 24,1882 and received certificate # 321.705.
On the 1910 Federal Census both he and his wife were living in the Indiana Soldier's Home in Tippecanoe Co., Ind.
James died at the soldier's home on Feb.6,1913 and his wife, Anna L., filed for a widow's pension on March 10,1913 receiving certificate # 815.228.
