Mrs. Bessie Lee Miller "Pobby" Feagin of Enterprise, AL passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 in Enterprise. She was 104.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Frank S. Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Feagin was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Lula Miller; her husband, Eugene Allen Feagin; her brother, Dewey Miller and his wife, Mary, her sister, Bernice Cunko and her husband, Steve; both of her children, Charles Allen Feagin and Douglas Eugene Feagin; other family members and many friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Feagin were married August 26, 1923 and owned the only machine shop in town, which became one of the most successful businesses in the Southeast for many years. Both were extremely involved in the community, being well-loved and revered by all who knew them. She was well-known for her Southern cooking and her open and warm hospitality. Upon retiring, she and her husband spent many years fishing at Lake Ridgeway and hosting fish-fries at their lake house. She was blessed to have a remarkable mind and memory until the end, and she took such pleasure in reminiscing about the "good ole days" and telling stories about her life experiences. "Pobby" was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. To know her was to love her. Her wisdom and love will live on in all those she left behind on this earth.

Mrs. Feagin was the oldest living member at First Baptist Church in Enterprise and had the longest membership on record. She taught training union and Sunday school for many years, and her husband served as chairman of the deacons. They also were commissioned on the First Baptist Church Council to help establish Park Avenue Baptist Church in Enterprise in 1945. She and her husband always had special friendships with each pastor, most notably, Brother and Mrs. Brady R. Justice and Dr. Frank S. Wells. Her strong faith and devotion to the Lord was what she was most proud of and was admired by all who knew her. She always believed God had given her the tremendous privilege to be able to bend her knees on this earth to pray and touch the almighty God in heaven. She spent last Easter Sunday in her yard admiring her beautiful flowers and telling her great-granddaughter she was the happiest she had been in years.

"Pobby" as she was affectionately known to her family, is survived by two daughters-in-law, Anne Feagin and Mary Jean Feagin; five grandchildren, Charles Allen Feagin, John Douglas Feagin, William Heath Feagin, Martha Feagin Kent, Mary Elizabeth Feagin; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Feagin Jackson, Darrell Allen Kent, David Christopher Kent, Chase Feagin, Morgan Bess Feagin, and other great-nieces and nephews.
