In Michael A. Rice's article: "Noah Rice of Saratoga County, New York: A 'Lost' Descendant of Edmund Rice", he refers to Andrew Henshaw Ward's 1858 genealogy of Deacon Edmund Rice, in which Noah Rice is listed as born in 1760 in Sutton, MA to Phineas Rice and Hannah Cummins. (This birth date, substantiated in Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620 - 1988 for Noah Rice, is in contrast to the 1762 date derived from the age and death date on his gravestone as transcribed by Cornelius Emerson Durkee in 1878; and his age at enlistment as noted in his 1832 Revolutionary War pension application: "10 July 1777 (age 15)" See the above mentioned article for an explanation of this discrepancy.) He served in the war until January 1778, probably leaving due to the death of his father. He was married in Barre to Prudence Luce of Hardwick on 30 Aug 1781. Noah's male line, from the same article, is Noah Rice b. 1760, Phineas Rice b.1724 d.1777, Perez Rice b.1698 d.1782, Thomas Rice b.1654 d.1747, Thomas Rice b.1625/26 d.1681, Deacon Edmund Rice. His burial place is at Thompson Cemetery, Northumberland, New York. It is located on River Road about 100 yards from the west bank of the Hudson River between Peters Road & Purinton Road. His stone is quite weathered. The biggest pine tree at this cemetery is crowding his burial site.
